Working with Mark is an energising process. His enthusiasm, insight, lateral thinking and creativity challenge and stretch you in good ways. Great fun and a real "value adder".
'Mark was a real pleasure to work and really got what the lastminute.com brand was all about. He is energetic, passionate and creative. I enjoyed our 121 meetings where we looked at new ways to keep lastminute.com fresh and innovative brand/marketing wise. Projects such as the lastminute.com London beach, Lifeboard and Free Paris Hilton stunt did just that. Mark also helped define and reposition the lastminute.com brand to keep it on track for the future'.
I have been very pleased with the work Mark has done for our business. He have helped us to distil our unique proposition into something that we can communicate with passion modernity and style to our customers and our teams.
Even in a World of machines deciding what we should do, instinct still counts. Mark has great instinct.
Mark is the nuts, truly creative, thoughtful, delivers sales and is a lot of a fun.
Mark nailed exactly what Bill’s is about and has unlocked great potential for us in our next stage of growth.
Mark is a genuinely creative individual with passion and vision for brands and what they can do for people. I enjoyed working with him at lastminute.com and his list of achievements was long and made tangible contributions to the development and growth of the business.
Better strategy. Better tactics. Mark has helped us tremendously with both. Strategically we have a better appreciation for the blend of art and science behind marketing... and as a team now give it the 'thinking time' it deserves. Tactically we're executing campaigns more efficiently, on-brand, and with less cost. The results? Better like-for-like's and more motivated teams... Everyone likes to see the numbers going up :-)
I worked with lastminute.com across the Group's Brands, it was acknowledged by the CEO and CMO Europe that the real hero in the (brand definition) process was a young Scotsman called Mark McCulloch.
His tireless energy and diplomacy skills meant the difference between six clever strategic solutions sitting in a document somewhere, and every single one if their 2,000 people across Europe undergoing an intensive engagement programme so that they could all rally around their Brands with one voice.
It was an exhausting and exhaustive process but it simply wouldn't have happened without him.
Mark doesn’t just want to deliver the brief, he wants to get under the skin of your business and really understand what your challenges are. He does this with a sense of urgency, creativity and fun. It is always a pleasure working with him.
Mark consistently delivers smart, innovative strategic – and global - solutions to us across multiple areas, most recently on staff engagement. It’s doable, measurable and effective. And fun! Looking forward to our next two projects with the Great Scot in 2019.
Where do you start... A damn fine egg, great laugh, hard worker and a brilliant people person. What more can I say!
Mark is one of the few colleagues I have worked with who can articulate his vision in a simple, practical & motivating way with real-time examples of how to deliver it efficiently. He has the right balance of creative & commercial flair, complimented by an engaging down to earth style. Mark is someone I really trust, enjoy working with & without hesitation would recommend.
Mark's key strength is his creativity. He's an intuitive brand marketer, who is led by strong gut instincts and driven by a passion to make an immediate impact. Mark has the ability to come up with a range of ideas in a short space of time, and thrives when he can quickly put those ideas into practice.
Mark is a rarity in senior marketing professionals, he's holistic in his view of the marketing tools at his disposal and is therefore a keen advocate of partnership marketing to help him achieve his objectives. Mark is very creative, innovative, forward thinking and open to ideas, he was great to work with. I would highly recommend him.
Mark was a great help in clarifying our thinking on how to re-brand the Tesco Café estate. He helped us quickly and creatively with potential names and environment, which ultimately speeded up our decision making.
Mark is a dream to work with. His ability to tease out what is fundamentally at the core of a brand is second to none. And with his deep knowledge of the food and drink sector, he's the go-to person for anyone looking to be seen and heard in this busy sector.
Mark gets things done. His energy, passion, and kindness show in everything he does. He's helped us in a big way and I owe him!
Mark McCulloch is like the Steve Jobs, Tony Robbins and Willy Wonka of the restaurant marketing / social / digital world, all rolled into one.
If you are looking for someone with a genuine passion for food and drink, slight obsession with social media and a vibrant and inspiring network, then you are in the right place! I have had the great fortune to work with Mark in various roles over the years, including lastminute.com in the early years and more recently at Red Carnation Hotels where Mark is currently supporting our efforts to showcase our people and their passions through social! I continue to be inspired by Mark’s endless enthusiasm, creative genius and genuine warmth as a person.
Mark is in the top echelon of public speakers within the hospitality sector. He has a very warm style of public speaking, using direct language mixed with great anecdotes, with a generally self-deprecating approach. He holds his audience from start to finish - and we always get wonderful feedback from attendees of events he takes part in.
Mark is certainly one of the best speakers I've heard. Clear, dynamic, engaging, his information is persuasive and compelling, delivered in a way that is memorable and, best of all, offers a clear plan of possible action. The audience at the National Hospitality Conference 2017 were completely engaged throughout, and many made a point of telling me afterwards how useful, and entertaining, they found Mark's presentation to be. From an organisational point of view, Mark was a pleasure to deal with - absolutely professional and charming in every way.
Whenever we are looking for super-strong and engaging leaders to speak about what is happening in the market right now, Mark is top of our wish-list. He adds a ton of value, cramming in an extraordinary amount of content, and latest thinking, all delivered in a really engaging way, and backed by slick visuals. He always tops audience feedback and is great to work with, so we can’t recommend him enough.
Mark’s talents don’t just extend to having show stopping content that even the most experienced operators are inspired by, he understands that because they sessions are entertaining too, those operators will come back to see him time and time again.
Mark was one of the highest scoring speakers at our showpiece 2020 event. His informal yet expert style really resonated with the audience and his presentation was both informative and enjoyable.
Mark’s workshop 'Social Media Strategy – Everything restaurateurs need to know' was highly booked and very appreciated by the participants. It was a kind of crash course to help the companies writing their own digital strategy and put it into practice.
Mark is in equal measure, engaging, knowledgeable and inspirational. He has a vast and unequalled knowledge of marketing and is able to turn his hand to any aspect of branding, marketing, digital, social or PR making the topic accessible to the audience, while being entertaining at the same time. For many audience members of conference, the day is long and the presentations can be dry and hard to engage with. Not when Mark is speaking! Audiences always look forward to hearing from him and without exception rate him highly in after event surveys.
Mark has spoken at our show, Restaurant & Takeaway Innovation Expo, for the past 4 years, delivering an incredibly inspiring talk to a packed out crowd each and every time. Visitors who are lucky enough to catch him in action can appreciate that Mark is a great marketer and innovator, given his passion and breath of knowledge on how to succeed in this ever evolving industry.
I have used Mark on several occasions at the hospitality events I direct for very good reasons;
Super knowledgeable: Not only does he talk technically about his area of expertise but also with empathy so that regardless of your understanding, you will walk away having learnt something.
He is funny: This guy will deliver serious one liners to take the edge off what can sometimes be regimented event formats
Personable: Whether on the stage, pre or post session you can approach Mark to ask any questions and he will give you time and share his knowledge. He also encourages the audience to be part of the session, the ego is small and delivery big!
Had a lot of fun working with Mark on a number of initiatives between Lastminute.com & Yahoo! Mark couples great ideas with an ability to deliver, not as easy at it sounds.
